Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as an event?
An event is any audit log entry sent to our API. Each call to the log() function counts as one event, regardless of the metadata size.
What happens if I exceed my event limit?
On Free, events over your monthly limit may be rejected until the next month. On paid plans, you can continue logging above your limit using overage billing (charged monthly), and you can set an overage cap to control cost.
How does overage billing work?
Overage billing lets you keep logging after you hit your monthly limit. You are billed at the end of the month in 1,000-event blocks (rounded up). Rates depend on your plan: Starter $1.00/1K, Growth $0.75/1K, Pro $0.50/1K.
Can I set a limit for overages?
Yes. Paid plans can set an overage cap (e.g. 50% extra). Once you reach that cap, new events are rejected—preventing unexpected charges. You can adjust this anytime from your dashboard.
Can I change plans at any time?
Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. We prorate charges for upgrades.
How does retention work?
Events older than your retention period are automatically deleted. You can export events before they are deleted. Higher plans include longer retention periods.
Is there a free trial?
Yes! All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start. You can also use the Free plan indefinitely for small projects.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes! Pay annually and get 2 months free (save ~17%). Contact us for annual billing options.
What about enterprise needs?
For custom event volumes, extended retention, SLA guarantees, or dedicated infrastructure, contact us for a custom enterprise plan.
Is the hash chain included in all plans?
Yes! Our cryptographic SHA-256 hash chain is included in every plan, including Free. Tamper-proof audit logging shouldn't be a premium feature.
